Getting to know me
First of all, Welcome and thank you for taking the time to look at my work. My name is Jerald Seely but I like to go by Jerry. I am 28 years old and originally from the great state of Colorado. For the past eight years I have been living in Norfolk, Virginia because I'm an active duty member of the U.S. Navy. I have really enjoyed the oprotunities the Navy has given me and if it wasn't for the deployments I would most likely never have picked up a camera for anything but snapshots.
I started getting serious with photography while on my second deployment. There's so much diversity in the different countries of the world with the architecture, people, natural landscapes, markets, and etc. I wanted to capture it all to share with family, friends, and any others I could. My camera on my first deployment was rather lacking and I was disappointed when I saw the results, so therefore when it came time to go again I bought my first digital SLR camera. Needless to say I was so happy with the results and the challenge of learning an SLR that I became hooked.
After I came back to the states and transfered to shore duty, I wasn't traveling anymore so I took my photography in a new direction. Studio and modeling photography. The complexity of studio lighting brought a whole new challenge of learning and creative opportunities. I learn something new everytime I shoot and face new challenges with every concept brought to the table. I look forward to expanding my knowledge and capabilities.
